No power. No WiFi. No running water. Just river, sky, and stillness.
We believe meaningful experiences don’t require luxury – they require presence.
This isn’t a resort. It’s not polished. It’s not plugged in.

This rustic location placed in the heart of Alberta’s crown land was amazing. If you want to experience a simpler way of enjoying the outdoors with knowledgeable and friendly people that guided us safely down the beautiful looking red deer river (Emma and John) did a great job of this .
We went on a family rafting trip, 2 grandmothers and 4 kids ages 6-9. We were very impressed with the focus on safety. The kids just loved it, despite the cool rainy weather. A good mix of fun rapids and smooth water. We stayed 2 nights in a cabin, it was great to be totally unplugged! Having the cookhouse was a huge advantage for cooking our meals, and a spot to warm up by the fire. Staff were so helpful!
My friend and I booked a day rafting trip and we were not disappointed. Hunter Valley Adventures is an amazing place. The camp is a little forest oasis beside the river - a refuge from the outside world. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to for an original experience on the Red Deer river.
The guides were really passionate about the rafting adventure, yet fully mindful of safety. We had great fun, sometimes getting out of our comfort zone, which is what adventures are all about. The place is not fancy, but very practical, which adds to the sense of wilderness adventure. Our host Kelly was super nice and accommodating to everyone. Highly recommended if you are ok with a rustic setting.
A lovely rustic whitewater rafting adventure in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains 1 1/2 hours NW of Calgary. Camp off the beaten track in small cabins and sit around the fire in the cosy wooden enclosed camp kitchen area. Bring a sleeping bag and a headlamp along with appropriate clothing for mountain weather. Wetsuits and all paddling gear are supplied. Enjoy the mountain view, the quiet of the woods and unwind without your cell (how long has it been since you tried that?).
